Category 1: Crude Palm Oil (CPO) & Its Fractions
Crude Palm Oil (CPO): The raw, unrefined oil extracted from the mesocarp of the palm fruit. It is characterized by its high carotenoid content (giving it a deep red-orange color) and high Free Fatty Acid (FFA) level. Primarily used as a raw material for refineries.
Crude Palm Olein (CPL): The liquid fraction obtained from the fractionation of CPO. It remains clear at room temperature and is a common feedstock for refining into cooking oil.
Crude Palm Stearin (CPS): The solid fraction obtained from the fractionation of CPO. It is a hard, high-melting point fat used in the production of margarine, shortening, and soap.
Category 2: Refined, Bleached, and Deodorized (RBD) Products
These are CPO derivatives that have been processed to remove color, odor, and impurities, making them suitable for direct use in food and other applications.
RBD Palm Oil: A neutral, semi-solid fat at room temperature. It is versatile and widely used in frying, baking, and as a base for margarine and shortening.
RBD Palm Olein: The refined liquid fraction. It is the world's most widely used cooking oil due to its excellent frying properties, stability, and neutral taste. Available in standard, super, and top-grade variants with different cloud points.
